Why March 2023 was a Historic Month for Exress Entry?

March 2023 marked an unprecedented period in the history of the Express Entry system with 21,667 candidates receiving invitations to apply (ITAs) over four draws.

This is the second-highest number of ITAs issued in a single month since Express Entry’s inception in January 2015. The record for most candidates invited in a month remains with February 2021, when IRCC issued 27,332 ITAs to candidates from the Canadian Experience Class.

Three consecutive draws of 7,000 candidates each took place in March, with the first occurring on March 15, targeting candidates with a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 490.

The second draw took place on March 23, just over a week later, with a minimum CRS score of 484. Another 7,000 candidates draw with a minimum CRS score of 481 followed on March 29. In addition to these, 667 candidates received ITAs on March 1 through a draw that targeted only candidates in the Provincial Nominee Program.

5 Alternative Ways to Boost Your CRS Score

Individuals with a low Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score may face difficulty in receiving an invitation to apply (ITA) for permanent residence in Canada through Express Entry. However, there are several pathways available to increase their CRS score and increase their chances of receiving an ITA. Here are five options to consider in 2023:

1. Provincial Nominee Program (PNP)

Provincial Nomination (PNP): Applying for a Provincial Nomination Program can significantly increase the chances of receiving an ITA. With an enhanced nomination, candidates can gain an additional 600 points on their CRS score, which guarantees an ITA for permanent residence.

2. LMIA Job Offer

Obtaining a job offer from a Canadian employer with a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) can expedite the immigration process. Candidates can enter Canada with a work permit and gain valuable work experience to increase their CRS score, making them eligible to apply for permanent residency.

5. French Language

Being proficient in the French language can earn you up to 50 additional CRS points. This is particularly beneficial for those with scores ranging from 450 to 470. The Canada Immigration Levels Plan 2023–2025 has set aside over 4% of the immigration quota for Francophone immigration, making French language skills a valuable asset for Express Entry candidates.
