On March 30, 2020, British Columbia conducted a new draw in the Skills Immigration and Express Entry British Columbia categories of the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP). But as a result of the negative impact of the Covid-19 crisis on the provincial economy, the government has excluded the Entry-Level and Semi-Skilled (ELSS) category from this draw.
In addition, BCPNP excluded other tourism, hospitality and retail-related occupations as well as occupations where BCPNP experienced a high volume of applications:
- 0621 – Retail and wholesale trade managers
- 0631 – Restaurant and food service managers
- 0632 – Accommodation service managers
- 0651 – Managers in customer and personal services, n.e.c.
- 1123 – Professional occupations in advertising, marketing and public relations
- 1221 – Administrative officers
- 1241 – Administrative assistants
- 3236 – Massage therapists
- 6211 – Retail sales supervisors
- 6311 – Food service supervisors
- 6313 – Accommodation, travel, tourism and related services supervisors
- 6321 – Chefs
- 6322 – Cooks
- 6341 – Hairstylists and barbers.
In this round, BCPNP invited 311 candidates. The lowest scores in the categories decreased for several points:
- Skills Immigration – Skilled Worker 102
- Skills Immigration – International Graduate 102 (-4 points)
- Express Entry British Columbia – Skilled Worker 105 (-5 points)
- Express Entry British Columbia – International Graduate 102 (-8 points)
British Columbia invited 1,950 candidates to apply for the nomination of the province in 2020.
