Federal Skilled Trades Program: FST Eligible Occupations

The Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP) is a unique federal economic immigration initiative designed to prioritize the immigration of skilled tradespeople to Canada. It offers a pathway for these professionals from around the globe to settle permanently in Canada, providing them with a stable and prosperous future.

Federal Skilled Trades Class Requirements

  • You must have job offers from up to two employers in Canada for at least one year. An LMIA must accompany the employment. Alternatively, you must also have a Certificate of Qualification from a provincial or territorial body.
  • Language proficiency is an essential requirement for the Federal Skilled Trades Program. You must be able to communicate effectively in either English or French, with a minimum score of CLB5 for speaking and listening and CLB4 for reading and writing. This is essential for your successful integration into Canadian society and professional growth.
  • You must possess at least two years of professional work experience in the skilled trade in the last 5 years.
  • You must demonstrate appropriate skills and expertise to perform the duties of the occupation.
