Eligibility Requirements for PEI PNP Labour Impact Category: Skilled Worker Stream

  • Express Entry Profile: You need not have an Express Entry Profile.
  • Age: You should be between 18 and 59 years old.
  • Current Status: You should be living and working in PEI with a valid work permit.
  • Job Offer: You should have a full-time, permanent job offer from an employer located in the PEI province. Your work position must fall under National Occupational Classification (NOC) TEER 0, 1, 2, or 3.
  • Language Proficiency: You should demonstrate your proficiency in English or French language. It can be done in the following ways:
    • You need to take an official language test which must be consistent with Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) level 4; or,
    • You should get a signed language declaration from the employer located in PEI, who has given you the job offer; or,
    • You should have credible documents that attest that your education is complete in French or English.
  • Education: You should have completed a minimum 2-year post-secondary degree or diploma.
  • Work Experience: You should have a minimum of 2 years of full-time work experience in the last 5 years.
  • Intention to Reside: You should clearly intend to live in the province of Prince Edward Island (PEI).

The application procedure for the Skilled Worker in PEI (Labour Impact) stream operates on a system of Expression of Interest (EOI). If you meet all the eligibility requirements, follow these steps:

  1. Submit Your Profile: You should submit your profile to the applicant pool of PEI.
  2. Ranking: You will be ranked against the other applicants based on the PEI Labour Impact Category Ranking System.
  3. Invitation to Apply: You will receive an invitation to submit a complete application to the stream in one of the category’s periodic draws only if you are among the top-ranked applicants.
  4. Provincial Nomination: You will be issued a provincial nomination from PEI if you are successful.
  5. Apply for Permanent Residency: You should submit a federal application for permanent residency in Canada within 6 months of receiving the provincial nomination.
  6. Complete Application: You should complete a paper-based application for permanent residency in Canada. You need to mail this application to the appropriate application centre.

Note: The processing time for paper-based PNP applications for permanent residency is typically 18 months.
