OINP Masters Graduate Stream

Ontario Masters Graduate stream is a part of the Human Capital streams of the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP). The stream targets international students who have earned their Master’s degree from eligible Ontario institutions and want to settle permanently in the province. Candidates nominated through this stream will be invited to submit their applications for Canadian permanent residence.

Eligibility Requirements for Ontario’s OINP Masters Graduate

Who Can Apply?

  • Master’s Degree graduate from an eligible Ontario institution.
  • Legally a resident of Ontario for at least one year.
  • Proof to show their intention to live in Ontario.

Eligibility Requirements

You must register in the OINP’s Expression of Interest System and receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA). You can only apply to OINP Masters Graduate after you receive ITA.

  • Education: You must have at least one year of full-time study. Part-time studies can only be considered if a part-time study is equivalent to at least one full-time academic year. In addition, you must earn your degree from an eligible university in Ontario.
  • Language Proficiency: You must take an approved English or French Language test and score at a Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) Level 7.
    • For English tests, OINP accepts:
      • International English Language Testing (IELTS) (General Training test only)
      • Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program (CELPIP) (General test only)
    • For French tests, OINP accepts:
      • Test d’évaluation de français pour le Canada (TEF)
      • Test de connaissance du français pour le Canada (TCF)
  • Residency: You must be a legal resident of Ontario for at least one year. If you have a gap or gaps, all periods of living will be added to one year within the past two years before you apply.
  • Settlement Fund: You must have sufficient settlement funds to support your life and dependents. You can demonstrate your settlement funds using:
    • Your savings account statements, non-locked-in investments, fixed-term deposits, mutual funds etc.
    • Annual earning statement.
    • Job offer with sufficient annual salary.
  • Intent to stay in Ontario: You must establish a solid intention to settle permanently in the province by showcasing your job offer, long-term volunteering work, leasing or owning a property, professional network, family ties, networking and personal relationships with people living in Ontario.

Application Process for OINP Masters Graduate Stream

The OINP Masters Graduate functions under the OINP Expression of Interest system.

  • Stage 1: You must submit your EOI through OINP’s e-filling portal with all relevant and accurate information.
  • Stage 2: Profiles are ranked according to a point-based system, so the highest-ranking candidates will get an Invitation to Apply (ITA) in the draw.
  • Stage 3: If you receive ITA, you will get 14 days to apply for nomination.
  • Stage 4: OINP will evaluate your application, and if approved, they will send you a provincial nomination certificate.
  • Stage 5: After receiving your provincial nomination, you must submit a federal application for Canadian permanent residence.
