OINP French-Speaking Skilled Worker – Federal Skilled Worker (FSW)

The Ontario French-speaking Skilled Worker is a part of the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP). It is called a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), which is made to attract professionals who are proficient in English as well as French. In alignment with the federal Express Entry, OINP French-Speaking Skilled Worker targets candidates in the Express Entry pool under the Federal Skilled Worker (FSW). On being successfully nominated, you will receive an opportunity to apply for permanent residence in Canada via a Notification of Interest (NOI) from the province.

Eligibility Requirements for OINP French-Speaking Skilled Worker – FSW

  • Express Entry Profile: You must have an Express Entry Profile.
  • Language Proficiency: You must have a minimum score of CLB 7 in French and CLB 6 in English, both in all four abilities.
  • Education Level: You must have an education level equivalent to a Canadian bachelor’s, master’s or PhD degree.
  • Work Experience: You must have previous work experience with National Occupational Classification (NOC) TEER 0, 1, 2, or 3.

Conditions:

  1. Provincial Connection: You may not have a connection to the province.
  2. Job Offer: You may not have a job offer.
  3. Investment: You may not require an investment.

Note: The two accepted tests for English proficiency are the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) and the Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program (CELPIP).

Settlement Funds

You need to meet the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada’s (IRCC) settlement fund criteria for applying to the Ontario French-speaking Skilled Worker stream. For this, you need to have a legitimate job offer or proof of the same through your personal finance.

OINP French-Speaking Skilled Worker (FSW): Application Process

OINP French-Speaking Skilled Worker – Federal Skilled Worker (FSW) is an invitation-only program. If you fulfill all the eligibility requirements of this program, then you can apply to it. The step-by-step application procedure is mentioned below:

  • Step 1: Express Entry Profile You must have an Express Entry profile through which an application needs to be submitted.
  • Step 2: Notification of Interest (NOI) You will be issued a Notification of Interest (NOI) by the province of Ontario, if your application is shortlisted.
  • Step 3: Submit Online Application After receiving the NOI, you will have 45 calendar days to prepare and submit an online application. Once you finalize the application and recheck it thoroughly, submit it via the OINP e-Filing Portal.
  • Step 4: Pay Application Fee You will have to pay $1,500 CAD towards the OINP application fee.
  • Step 5: Approval Notification If your application for provincial nomination is approved, you will be notified in your IRCC online account.
  • Step 6: Accept Provincial Nomination Accepting the provincial nomination will increase your CRS score by 600 points. By doing so, you virtually assure yourself of getting an invitation to apply for permanent residency in Canada in the next Express Entry round.
