The Nova Scotia Nominee Program (NSNP) is an economic immigration program that offers permanent residency to international graduate students with skills and education that meet particular National Occupational Classification (NOC) job categories. To be eligible for the International Graduates in Demand stream, you must have a permanent, full-time job offer from a Nova Scotia employer under the NOC job categories listed. In-Demand Occupations

Applicants must have a full-time permanent job offer from a Nova Scotia employer in one of the following in-demand occupations:

  • NOC 32102: Paramedical Occupations
  • NOC 32124: Pharmacy Technicians
  • NOC 33102: Nurse Aides, Orderlies, and Patient Service Associates
  • NOC 42202: Early Childhood Educators and Assistants

The job offer must align with the applicant’s current field of study, and they should also have certifications for the job issued by a Nova Scotia regulatory body.

Education

Applicants must complete a course of study corresponding to the in-demand occupation within three years of applying. The program must be at least 30 weeks long, and half must be completed within Nova Scotia. If the employment involves a license or certification, a recognized regulatory body in Canada must first evaluate the certificate.

  • For NOC 32102 or 32124, the program must grant a diploma.
  • For NOC 33102, the program must grant a certificate, diploma, or degree.
  • For NOC 42202, the program must grant a diploma or a degree.
  • For in-demand occupations, applicants must have a high school diploma.

Age

Applicants must be between 19 and 55 at the time of submission.

Language Proficiency

The minimum official language proficiency equals Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) Level 5, even if the applicant’s first language is English or French.

Adaptability

Applicants must demonstrate sufficient financial resources to settle in Nova Scotia successfully.

Provincial Nomination

If applicants meet the International Graduates in Demand Stream criteria, they will receive a nomination certificate via email. The certificate is valid for 6 months from the date of nomination.

To apply for the NSNP International Graduates in Demand Stream, follow these steps:

  • Stage 1: Meet all the eligibility criteria and apply directly to the Nova Scotia Nominee Program’s online application portal.
  • Stage 2: The processing time varies for each occupation. If your application is approved, you will receive a formal provincial nomination from Nova Scotia and proceed with further application processes.
  • Stage 3: Once you receive a provincial nomination, you can apply for permanent resident status to the federal government. The standard application process time under this scheme is typically more than one year.
