MPNP Manitoba Work Experience Pathway

The Manitoba Work Experience Pathway (MWEP) is a part of the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) and is designed for foreign workers who have sufficient experience and are seeking permanent residency in the province. Specifically tailored to individuals currently working in Manitoba with a valid work permit and interested in becoming permanent residents, the MWEP offers a straightforward pathway for those already established in the province, making it a stepping stone towards achieving their goal.

Eligibility Requirements for Manitoba Work Experience Pathway

If you seek permanent residence in Canada under the Manitoba Work Experience Pathway, you must be aware of the eligibility criteria:

1. Work Experience Requirement

  • You must have a post-secondary education from Manitoba, with a minimum of six months’ work experience.
  • If you have completed your education outside of the province, then also you can apply for this program. In that case, you must have at least 12 months’ work experience in Manitoba with a registered company.
  •  The program also allows Temporary Foreign Workers (TFWs) who are on the province’s published in-demand occupation list to have 12 months of work experience in Manitoba with a Canadian work permit.
  • If you have earned your graduate degree from Manitoba’s educational institute and worked in the province for a minimum of 12 months you can apply for the program regardless of Manitoba’s published In-demand Occupation list.

2. Additional Employment Requirements

  • You must live in Manitoba at the time of application.
  • You must demonstrate a full-time and long-term job offer that meets the province’s employment and wage standards.
  • Your employment nature and conditions must meet the conditions of Canadian citizens and permanent residents.
  • Your employment should not be work-from-home, part-time, temporary, commission-based or seasonal.

3. Language Proficiency

The minimum official language proficiency depends on the assessed NOC:

  • For Regulated Occupations, a minimum of CLB/NCLC 7 is required.
  • For Compulsory Trades, a minimum of CLB/NCLC 6 is required.
  • For all the occupations under NOC TEER categories 0, 1, and 2, a minimum CLB/NCLC level of 5 is required.
  • For all the occupations NOC TEER categories 3, 4, and 5 require a minimum CLB/NCLC 4.

4. Adaptability

If you have a deep connection such as direct relatives staying in Manitoba, you need to furnish documented proof of your established connection. You must demonstrate your intent and ability to live long-term in the province.

5. Settlement Plan

You must submit a detailed settlement plan, demonstrating your plan for career prospects, development of the community and most importantly your plan for integrating into the community life in Manitoba.

6. Settlement Fund

You must demonstrate your settlement fund that is required for settlement funds requirements. You must have liquid money of $10,000 CAD plus an additional $2,000 CAD per accompanying dependant. Your assets such as car, real estate, bonds etc. are not considered as your settlement funds.

How to Apply for Manitoba Work Experience Pathway?

To apply for the Manitoba Work Experience Pathway, you need to follow these steps:

  1. Register a profile: If you meet the basic stream eligibility requirements, you can use the MPNP Online platform to create a profile.
  2. Get a score and rank: After submitting all details, you will be given a score and rated against one another using the MPNP Ranking method (this ranking method may change prior to the commencement of this stream).
  3. Receive a Letter of Advice to Apply (LAA): During one of the MPNP Draws, the top-ranked candidates will be granted a Letter of Advice to Apply (LAA).
  4. Submit a complete application to MPNP: You will get six months from the date of your nomination to submit an official application for permanent residence in Manitoba. During this period, you have to prepare all your documents and submit a paper-based application to the appropriate application center. The processing time takes approximately 18 months.

Please note that the Career Employment Pathway provides faster nomination pathways for post-secondary students who graduate and find long-term employment in Manitoba in an in-demand occupation consistent with their training.
