MPNP Manitoba Skilled Worker Overseas (SWO)

The MPNP Skilled Worker Overseas category for Skilled Workers is essentially a locally driven program designed with the interests of Manitoba employers in mind. MPNP selects all internationally trained and dynamically skilled individuals with an appropriate skill set demanded by the local employment market. All applicants who receive approval are then nominated or invited to apply for Canadian Permanent Resident visas, allowing them to work and settle in Manitoba, Canada.

Eligibility Requirements for MPNP Skilled Worker Overseas

The Manitoba PNP Skilled Worker Overseas stream aims to select appropriate candidates who have already established a connection with Manitoba. To qualify for the Skilled Worker Overseas stream, candidates must establish a connection with Manitoba through:

  • Close family members or friends residing in the province.
  • Previous work experience or post-graduate education in Manitoba province.
  • A direct invitation from MPNP as a part of the Strategic Recruitment Initiative.

In addition to the connection required from this program, the candidate must score at least 60 points based on five components, including language proficiency, age, work experience, education and adaptability. It is noted that the connection to Manitoba province is mandatory.

Manitoba Support

Close family members or friends who are Canadian permanent residents who reside in Manitoba may be able to support your application. Your family member or friend must have lived in the province for at least one year. You must demonstrate intimate relationships with your sponsor, and they must endorse your settlement plan and provide contact information for your application.

Suppose you have finished your study at an institute in Manitoba. In that case, you must show documentation of a finished study or training program at a registered post-secondary university or college in Manitoba, including your study permit, transcripts, certificate, diploma, degree, or others.

Manitoba Invitation

The MPNP issues Invitations to Apply regularly to qualified applicants noticed through one of our Strategic Recruitment Initiatives in Manitoba and abroad. The MPNP has the sole authority in issuing an Invitation to Apply, and applicants cannot self-select for eligibility with that connection to our province.

To apply to the MPNP through the Manitoba Invitation connection, you must upload the Letter of Invitation you received directly from the MPNP after being interviewed by a program officer on a recruitment mission or exploratory visit in your MPNP Online application.

The MPNP will approve the exploratory visit and arrange it by invitation only. You can get all the information on what to do during the visit, documentation, etc., from the MPNP. The eligibility criteria for an exploratory visit are:

FAQs: Manitoba Skilled Worker Overseas

These are some frequently asked questions about the MPNP Skilled Worker Overseas Pathway.
.

Can I apply if I have a job offer from a Manitoba employer but don't have a connection to the province?

No, the Skilled Worker Overseas stream requires a connection to Manitoba through family or friends, work experience, education, or a direct invitation. While having a job offer from a Manitoba employer is valuable for other immigration programs, it does not fulfill the specific connection requirement for this stream.

What happens if my supporter in Manitoba moves to another province after supporting my application?

If your supporter, a Canadian permanent resident in Manitoba, relocates to another province after supporting your application, it may impact the validity of your connection. The Manitoba PNP typically requires supporters to remain in the province for the duration of the application process. If there’s a change in your supporter’s residence, it’s advisable to seek guidance from immigration authorities.

Can I include work experience from outside Manitoba in my application for the Skilled Worker Overseas stream?

While the primary focus is on a connection to Manitoba, the program requires at least 6 consecutive months of work experience in the province. However, if you have additional work experience outside Manitoba, it can enhance your overall application. Highlighting your broader work history and skills may contribute to a more competitive application, even though only the Manitoba work experience is mandatory.
