Eligibility Requirements for MPNP Skilled Worker Overseas
The Manitoba PNP Skilled Worker Overseas stream aims to select appropriate candidates who have already established a connection with Manitoba. To qualify for the Skilled Worker Overseas stream, candidates must establish a connection with Manitoba through:
- Close family members or friends residing in the province.
- Previous work experience or post-graduate education in Manitoba province.
- A direct invitation from MPNP as a part of the Strategic Recruitment Initiative.
In addition to the connection required from this program, the candidate must score at least 60 points based on five components, including language proficiency, age, work experience, education and adaptability. It is noted that the connection to Manitoba province is mandatory.
Manitoba Support
Close family members or friends who are Canadian permanent residents who reside in Manitoba may be able to support your application. Your family member or friend must have lived in the province for at least one year. You must demonstrate intimate relationships with your sponsor, and they must endorse your settlement plan and provide contact information for your application.
- Your close relative can support more than one applicant, but your distant relatives or friends are only eligible for one applicant at once.
- If your supporter previously supported anyone else, he or she must demonstrate that the supported applicant is successfully settled in Manitoba.
- Any immigrant representative, Canadian official employee or anyone who is not closely related to you can support you.
- Children cannot support their parents, and a permanent resident of Canada cannot support his or her spouse.
To be considered a close relative, a Manitoba Supporter must be related to the applicant (or the applicant’s spouse) as their sister or brother, niece or nephew, aunt or uncle, first cousin, mother or father, or grandmother or grandfather.
Manitoba Experience
Your previous work or education experience in Manitoba will be required for this program. You need at least six consecutive months’ experience in the province and must furnish a letter of reference from your employer and a valid work permit. Suppose you have finished your study at an institute in Manitoba. In that case, you must show documentation of a finished study or training program at a registered post-secondary university or college in Manitoba, including your study permit, transcripts, certificate, diploma, degree, or others.
Manitoba Invitation
The MPNP issues Invitations to Apply regularly to qualified applicants noticed through one of our Strategic Recruitment Initiatives in Manitoba and abroad. The MPNP has the sole authority in issuing an Invitation to Apply, and applicants cannot self-select for eligibility with that connection to our province.
To apply to the MPNP through the Manitoba Invitation connection, you must upload the Letter of Invitation you received directly from the MPNP after being interviewed by a program officer on a recruitment mission or exploratory visit in your MPNP Online application.
The MPNP will approve the exploratory visit and arrange it by invitation only. You can get all the information on what to do during the visit, documentation, etc., from the MPNP. The eligibility criteria for an exploratory visit are:
- Age between 21 and 45
- You will need to show employability and adaptability.
- You must demonstrate one year of post-secondary education or training program from a registered university or college in Manitoba.
- You must demonstrate two years of full-time jobs over the last five years.
- You must show your intent to find a full-time job in the same profession in Manitoba.
- You must produce Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) 5 results from an approved language exam conducted within the last two years.
